Bird’s Eye: A Collection Inspired by Escape, Imagination, and Adventure

Tee Time, 18×24 inches, mixed media

The Bird’s Eye collection is about transporting yourself to somewhere familiar, joyful, and adventurous.

Each piece starts with a bold, expressive, abstract background. From there, I layer in recognizable objects, figures, and moments: boats speeding through water, skiers cutting through snow, surfers waiting for the perfect wave. Seen from above, these scenes invite a shift in perspective, asking the viewer to step back, then lean in closer.

What I love most about working this way is how each painting tells multiple stories at once. At first glance, you see the energy and movement of the scene. But the longer you look, the more details reveal themselves: Tiny moments, subtle interactions, quiet narratives unfolding within the larger composition. The goal is for the viewer to feel rewarded for slowing down and looking closely.

Bird’s Eye is ultimately about joy, wonder, and adventure. It’s about remembering what it feels like to be fully immersed in a moment, whether that’s a perfect ski day, a sunny afternoon on the water, or a place that exists only in your imagination. My hope is that these paintings spark a sense of curiosity and nostalgia, and invite you to escape into your own favorite memories and places.
