About
Hello, I’m Jennifer - a Chicago-based artist who explores the balance between imagination and reality.
I’ve been creating art ever since I could hold a pencil. My grandma, a professional artist, was the first to teach me how to draw when I was just three years old. I remember being mesmerized as she transformed loose, effortless shapes into beautiful portraits within minutes. Those portraits hang on the walls above me as I write this.
One of my earliest memories is painting a baby bunny I’d grown attached to in our backyard. I named him Fluffy, which I spelled “Fulffy” at the time, and I insisted on painting him on the back of the canvas. While my parents suggested I use the front, I was drawn to the way the wooden beams in the back felt like a natural border, and I stuck with my choice. Looking back, I think that moment feels true to who I am now: I believe in finding beauty in the overlooked, embracing the imperfect, and following my instincts.
Today, I’m based in Chicago, where I live with my husband and our rescue Samoyed, Marcus. My current work explores themes of memories, escape, and daydreaming, immersing familiar objects and figures into expressive, colorful, abstract scenery.
